Our Caribbean Adventure Learning Course is just that – a thrilling adventure where you take your sailing and cruising skills to the next level. It’s not just a vacation – it is a customized, practical, hands on, full tilt, learning adventure. You will Learn by Doing as you take on the roles of Deck Officer, Navigator, Helmsman, and Deckhand. Whether we are anchored in a harbor or offshore in the Caribbean Sea, you will learn how to lead and how to follow, tips and tricks, tactics, procedures, preparedness, safety, handling emergencies, and much more. Depending on the weather you’ll be sailing the US, British, and Spanish Virgin Islands while you learn open ocean sailing, practical navigation, night sailing, MOB recovery at sea, and many other skills that will enable you to enjoy blue water sailing with safety and confidence.
Your Captains are world class, ASA Certified sailing instructors and USCG Licensed Captains. They have extensive sailing and cruising experience – thousands of miles both on their own boats, and on charter vessels. Apart from the teaching, the information you absorb from these veterans over 8 days will prove invaluable.
ASA101 and ASA103, certifications are pre-requisite for the course. If you do not have ASA104, you will earn that certification on the cruise. Sailors will also have the option of earning ASA114 (Cruising Catamaran) and/or ASA106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising) certifications as well.
Our Adventures are scheduled for May and November each year. The May 2016 adventure was a tremendous success with 14 people, two 44ft catamarans, and 12 new ASA certifications. In November we sailed a 51 foot Jeanneau from the BVI, to the SVI, to the USVI, and back to the BVI. Students had some superb learning experiences and got to see some amazing sights like the bioluminescent bay in Vieques.
